Twelve Reasons Visitors and Locals Enjoy Playing at Loch Ness Golf Course

1. Two Courses. The par-70 5,900 yard New Course. And the par-29 Family Course. Whatever your pleasure...
2. Serious Enjoyment on the New Course. It may look short-ish by modern standards on the card but it's no pushover. However, it was designed around holiday fun first and foremost while still offering plenty for the low-handicapper. Two serious golfers can have an exciting game here while the four ball behind them can enjoy a relaxed game.
3. The Views. The New Course gently ascends land above Inverness. On the 8th tee, golfers get spectacular views of Inverness, The Moray Firth, Ben Wyvis, The Black Isle, Kessock Bridge, and Fort George. On the 13th golfers can see the steep hillside that leads into Loch Ness.
4. Serious Fun on the Family Course. Nine holes designed specifically for beginners, juniors, ladies, and even serious golfers looking for an "emergency nine" over an extended lunch break or after work. The two courses do not overlap which keeps play moving along.
5. Generous Fairways. At some so-called Holiday Courses, you'll spend a lot of time "in the hay" looking for your ball. Not so at Loch Ness.
6. Expert Maintenance. Under the direction of the course manager and his staff, we have some of the finest putting surfaces in the Highlands.
7. Constant Improvements. Designed to enhance the golfers experience and provide a memorable round.
8. The 2nd. A brutish 550-yard par 5 that only John Daly and those of his ilk could reach in two shots. For mere mortals, par is a tremendous result. The approach plays over a burn.
9. The 12th. An inviting but treacherous short hole of just 101 yards from the back tees. All carry over a deep burn.
10. Natural Hazards Natural Beauty. Building Loch Ness required little in the way of earth moving: the views and natural hazards were already in place.
11. The (aptly-numbered) 13th. Not the longest par-4 in Scotland at 362 yards but a potential card wrecker nonetheless. Give the OOB behind the green a wide berth. Putting on the long and narrow green is always an adventure. A thinking-man's golf hole.
12. Post Round Refreshment. Think of Fairways more as a friendly clubhouse, bar, and restaurant with a fine golf course that you will use as a family day out rather than your typical male only golf environment.

Facilities:
Fairways has one of the finest practice facilities in the Highlands. In fact, most of the top clubs in Scotland would like to have a facility as good as the one here. Opened in 1989, the range is the creation of owner Mike Mackenzie who felt that the Inverness area needed a practice facility for the growth of the game in the region. The facility comprises:

19 covered bays
Floodlit range
Highest quality mats
2 piece top-quality practice balls
Practice pitching and bunker area
Practice green
Rental clubs available
Warm up before the round or try out a demo club or, better still, join one of the target golf leagues that operate on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings throughout the winter. Leagues are popular and provide some much needed light-hearted entertainment during the long dark nights. Rates are sensible: 50 balls for 3.00 or 14 balls for 1. Children are always welcome.

Where There isn't Time for a Full Game, Try Golf Cross at FairwaysGolfCross is golf with goals instead of holes and it's played with an oval GolfCross ball instead of a round traditional golf ball. GolfCrossers use the same rules as golf (with a few exceptions and additions) and the same clubs, although there is no need for a putter. The target is suspended in mid-air and every shot, due to the ball, is pretty much going at the target. The goals, which are the target, are positioned in an area fairly similar in size and style to golf greens, which are called "Yards" in GolfCross.

Catering:
Since opening in the 1990s, the restaurant and bar at Fairways have proven to be extremely popular. Haggis comes from Cockburns of Dingwall, a world-champion Haggis maker. The Sunday carvery is one of the most popular with three roasts to choose from and a mountain of vegetables. Renowned for ample portions, we are now getting notoriety for our selection of sweets which are all hand-made each day by our pastry chef.

Beers and spirits include all Scottish favourites including 70/-, 80/-, and Export along with Guinness and a large selection of four lagers, both bottled and draught. There is also an extensive range of whiskies, blend, deluxe and malts.

The conservatory has extended the restaurant to cater for over 70 diners and combined with the welcoming lounge bar, it provides everything from a quiet drink to a family dinner, and more.

The menu offers something for everyone and for all ages. If your favourite is not on the menu, just ask our chef and he will be only too happy to prepare it for you. Along with the children's facilities, it is truly a location for all the family.

We have produced a sample menu for you which has been selected from our restaurant, and we also have an excellent choice of daily specials which are featured on our blackboard in the restaurant, a range of snacks and our tempting sweets change every day. We look forward to seeing you soon!
